How to Enjoy Bigger Clouds When Vaping
Your vaping journey will likely have evolved over time. At first, you were probably just happy about the fact that switching to vaping has made it possible for you to quit smoking. You were enjoying the fact that you felt healthier, and you were experimenting a bit to find out to discover your favourite flavours.
You may then have begun to look at the diverse vaping hardware that's available, and perhaps started to wonder about what you could do to enhance your vaping experience. if you have reached that stage, you are probably thinking about cloud chasing.
How do you enjoy bigger clouds?
Are You Sure You Want Bigger Clouds?
Before you start buying new equipment and tweaking your vaping setup, you might want to pause to consider whether cloud chasing is something that you really want to do.
If you find your vaping experience to be less than completely satisfying, it’s possible that you would simply benefit from a higher nicotine strength or a change of flavour.
Chasing clouds will mean that you’ll use more e-liquid. You’ll probably also need to replace your coils more often. As a result, you’ll inevitably end up spending significantly more to vape than you currently do.

Learn to Inhale for Bigger Clouds
The first thing that you need to learn if you want to get bigger clouds when vaping is how to inhale properly. You can’t puff more firmly to get bigger clouds as you can with a cigarette; you need to maintain gentle air pressure and inhale as deeply as possible.
If you’re already doing that and can’t inhale any more deeply because you’re triggering your device’s puff timer limit, that’s a good sign that your device either isn’t powerful enough or doesn’t offer sufficient airflow to meet your needs. You should probably consider upgrading your vaping equipment.
Change Your Inhaling Style
Another way to get bigger clouds when vaping is by changing your inhaling style. Rather than drawing the vapour into your mouth before inhaling it, you can inhale the vapour directly into your lungs.
Some small vaping devices have adjustable airflow settings that allow them to support both the mouth-to-lung (MTL) and direct-to-lung (DTL) inhaling styles. That way, you can give direct-to-lung inhaling a try before you purchase a new vaping device specifically designed for that vaping style.
Before you try direct-to-lung inhaling, you should be aware that DTL vaping demands lower nicotine strengths. That's because the more vapour you inhale, the greater the amount of nicotine you will absorb. This is why many high VG e-liquids are only available with nicotine strengths of 3mg and 6mg.
Upgrade to a More Powerful Vaping Setup
If you’ve tried all of the suggestions in this article and are still unhappy with the vapour production of your vaping setup, it’s time to strongly consider an upgrade.
You’ll always get the biggest clouds with a box mod-type device and a large glass tank — and if you don’t already own a high-end vape tank, the easiest route forward is to invest in a starter kit that includes a mod and a compatible tank. Look for a device that supports DTL vaping and preferably one for which there is a range of coils to choose from including low resistance options (0.3ohm or less).

Tweak Your Vaping Setup for Maximum Vapour Production
If you own a more powerful vaping device and are already using a tank with a low resistance coil, the final step is to tweak your device for the maximum possible vapour production. In this section, we’ll provide some tips to help you get started.
- Your vaping hardware is only half of the cloud chasing equation; the other half is your e-liquid. If you want to get bigger clouds, you should use an e-liquid with a high percentage of vegetable glycerine (VG). Being thicker than propylene glycol (PG), an e-liquid with more VG will produce bigger clouds. An e-liquid containing mostly PG, on the other hand, will produce relatively small clouds regardless of how powerful your vaping setup may be.
- Open your tank’s airflow vent as fully as possible. The greater your tank’s airflow is, the greater the vapour you will experience. It’s important, though, to strike a balance between vapour production and flavour quality. If you find that the extra air flowing through your tank dilutes the flavour, close the vent slightly to correct the issue.
- Check the recommended wattage etched into the side of your atomizer coil and increase your device’s wattage to the extent that the coil allows. If you detect a burned flavour when vaping, you’ve pushed the wattage too far and should reduce it slightly.
