User review

“Geekvape has hit it out of the park. This mod ticks all the boxes. I’m struggling as far as cons go.

The build quality is fantastic — it feels so solid. The buttons feel awesome, and everything on it feels quality.

Also, it’s better looking than the first version of the Mini. It attracts less dust, and it’s a very sleek-looking mod. The leather is well done and feels great in the hand.

(With the 0.2 ohm coil at 55W, an open airflow, and a 3mg e liquid): You get a really nice medium-to-loose restricted lung hit that’s very flavourful. The airflow’s not turbulent whatsoever.

(With the 0.6 ohm coil at 25W and an open airflow): That’s more of a medium, bordering on tight, restricted lung hit. Out of the two, my favourite is the 0.2ohm at 50-55W.”

What’s to love about it

Also known as the M100 kit, the GeekVape Aegis Mini 2 takes the top spot on our list. It looks the part and performs like the real deal, too.

Like the entire Geekvape Aegis product range, this kit is nearly indestructible. If you’ve ever ruined a vaping device by dropping it in the water, you’ll love that it’s resistant to water, dust, and shock. It meets the IP68 standard for dust and water resistance — you can drop it in up to 1.5 metres of water for up to 30 minutes, and it’ll still work fine.

Thanks to an improved new chipset, the Geekvape Aegis Mini 2 can reliably deliver up to 100 watts of power with a single built-in 2500 mAh battery. These customisable wattage levels allow you to enjoy a tailored vaping experience. Plus, thanks to the battery life, you can enjoy days of vaping between charges.

You’ll also get awesome cloud production, intense, great flavour, and a smooth throat hit due to the Aegis Mini 2’s compatibility with GeekVape’s B series coil, which is perfect for direct-to-lung vaping with high-VG e liquids and shortfills.

This kit is partnered with the GeekVape Z Nano 2 Tank that boasts a capacity of 2ml. Easy to fill via the top fill system, the Geekvape tank also features adjustable airflow, which enables you to tailor your draws. You get a completely bespoke vaping experience.

By contrast to many single-battery vape mods, which can only deliver up to around 50 to 70 watts, the Geekvape Aegis Mini 2 can handle virtually any vape tank on the market — even the higher-end tanks designed for cloud chasing.

Finally, you’ll love the Geekvape Aegis Mini 2 from an ergonomic standpoint. The gently curved shape and oversized fire button contribute to a superb feel in the hand. Plus, it’s great for on-the-go vaping due to its battery capacity and robust design.

All in all, you cannot go wrong with this gem.

User review

“I’ve had no problem with airlock or filling it at all.

This isn’t for somebody who is an experienced vaper, even though you could use it as an out-and-about kit. It’s more for people who are coming off the ‘stinkies’.

The coils are perfect, as is the flavour you get from this.

(With the 1.5 ohm Prism T18E coil at 13.5W): Really good flavour. It’s a very restricted direct-to-lung and a loose mouth-to-lung. I recommend pairing this with a 10 mg nic salt.

The device is built nicely, and you’ll get at least two days out of it.

It’s better than any pod system you’re going to get.”

What’s to love about it

If you’re constantly on the move and need a vape mod with a huge battery capacity that can charge quickly, this is the mod for you.

Its 3000 mAh battery can be charged in next to no time via its USB-C port, and, as the above review states, once it’s fully charged, you should have enough power for at least two days of vaping (if not more, depending on your usage). How handy is that?!

There’s so much more to like about this mod, not least the range of coil options you get. As you’ll see from the above description, it comes fitted with a 1.7 ohm coil, which was developed specifically for the kit, and the tank is also compatible with the original T18E prism coil. Both of these coils are suitable for high-PG e liquids.

It’s worth noting that the airflow you get from the Innokin Endura T22 Pro depends on the coil you have installed, as it doesn’t come with adjustable airflow. But as we said above, it does come with a 1.7 ohm coil with a tight airflow, which is ideal if you’re a cigarette smoker.

For those who are new to vaping, a tight airflow means warmer vapour with an intense flavour. You’re essentially using a piece of kit that employs the same mouth-to-lung inhalation process as you’re used to when inhaling from a cigarette.

User review

“It’s comfortable and feels very high-quality. I like the squidgy panels on the sides — they’re really nice.

I dropped my Aspire Rhea on a table leg, and it didn’t break. It only dented slightly, so it can take a beating. The build quality is very, very good, and it’s everything you’d expect from a shock-proof device.

I have minimal complaints with this one, and I really like using it.”

What’s to love about it

You can see this from yourself by looking at the photo, but let’s face it — this is a smooth-looking device.

You’ll notice from our quickfire summary above that a couple of the colour options feature a luxury material called Alcantara — a synthetic textile material made from a blend of polyester and polyurethane.

You might be familiar with this material if you've purchased a new car or a pair of premium headphones recently. It feels like suede but is significantly more durable, so you get the best of both worlds.

A combination of style and substance is why Alcantara has become an increasingly popular choice among vapers; it continues to look like new even after extensive usage.

In the Aspire Rhea vape mod, an Alcantara wrap contributes to a wonderful hand feel while helping to insulate the device from shock.

But whichever of the five colour options you go for, you’re getting a mod that oozes luxury. The retro brown Aspire Rhea looks very sophisticated and is also popular among our customers.

The Aspire Rhea uses two 18650 batteries and reaches a maximum power of 200 watts. The bright colour display gives you access to a mountain of information at a glance, and you’ll love that the shock-resistant wrap and full-colour display aren’t the only modern conveniences on offer here.

The Aspire Rhea also supports 2-amp USB-C charging, which allows the device to charge twice as quickly as most vaping devices that charge via micro-USB.

As Gaz, aka FlatCap Vaper, says in his review, which we’ve linked to above: ‘This is Aspire we’re talking about, not any cheap old stuff’. That’s why this mod is one of three from Aspire to feature in our article.

  • Compatible with Geekvape’s legendary Z mesh coils

User review

“I like the mod. I like the size of it — it feels great in the hand.

The sleek fire button, clear display, menu settings, and chipset are all pros.

I also like how they’ve integrated the Type-C USB at the top — that’s awesome.

Another thing I really like is that I can flip the switch at the side and then this thing’s locked and I can put it in my pocket without having to worry. And the switch will not turn on and off on its own — you have to push it for it to click into place. I really, really like that.

All in all, a pretty good job.”

What’s to love about it

The Geekvape Aegis product range has reached legendary status within the vaping community, as evidenced by the fact we’ve included two products from within the range.

The Aegis Legend 2 is powered by a dual 18650 cell (sold separately), meaning you can enjoy longer vaping sessions without frequent recharging and can run your vape at higher wattages. You’re essentially getting twice the battery life — who doesn’t want that?

As we outlined in our summary above, it also reaches a maximum power of 200W and can fire resistances of 0.1 ohm to 3.0 ohm, so it accommodates a huge range of vaping styles.

This mod is also something of a trailblazer. Before the first Aegis device came out, vape mods were treated like disposable products. When vapers bought a new device, they did so with the understanding that they’d eventually dunk it in water or drop it on the floor, and that would be the end of it.

However, Geekvape was the first company to construct a range of longer-lasting vape mods, and the Aegis Legend 2 is the most durable.

It carries an industrial IP68 certification for its ability to prevent dust and water ingress, is impervious to dust, and can survive immersion in water with a depth of greater than one metre.

It’s the design of this device, though, that truly sets it apart. YouTuber Mike Vapes is big on this in his review that we’ve linked to above.

From the soft stitched grip to the shiny chassis held together with the same high-quality screws that you’d find on an expensive notebook computer, the Aegis Legend 2 takes vape mod design to a level unlike anything we’ve ever seen before.

User review

“I’ve tried to find a con for this kit, but for what it’s supposed to be, I can’t really find one. The only one I can find is the USB port being on the bottom. Other than that, it works as well as any Innokin product.

I especially like the cage that Innokin has put around the glass. That, to me, is a huge pro because, if you drop this, you’re more than likely not going to crack the glass because of this cage on it.

Listing the wattages at the bottom of the mod is also a great idea because this keeps you from forgetting what wattage you’re at or having to look it up in the manual. I absolutely love that Innokin did that — it’s ingenious.

I love the look and feel of it — the grippiness is life, I promise you. If you drop it, it’s not going to break because of the rubber on it.”

Wendy V Reviews — YouTube

What’s to love about it

If you love the great outdoors (or are likely to take your mod to places in which it could easily break or damage), you need to get your hands on the Innokin Adept Zlide.

This mod offers a superb grip thanks to its rubberised casing, and it feels snug in the hand. And the big selling point is its IP67 rating, which makes it perfect for demanding environments. This will give you total peace of mind, and your heart won’t skip a beat if you drop or misplace it!

You only have two buttons to think about — the fire button, which you hit three times to turn it on and off, and the mode button, which takes you through the different power options. There are only four to choose from, which makes your life easier if you’re a newbie.

And you always know which power option to select thanks to the helpful row of numbers at the bottom of this device. The MTL options are listed on the left column (11-14W with the 1.6 ohm Zenith coil), and the DTL options are listed on the right column (14-17W with the 0.48 Zenith coil).

The Adept Zlide will automatically recognise the resistance of the coil and pick the appropriate power mode. To select your wattage, all you have to do is tap the button one, two, three, or four times based on your preference (one tap for 11W with a 1.6 ohm coil and four taps for 17W with the 0.48 ohm coil for example).

If you’re a smoker who’s just getting started on your vaping journey, you should probably start with the 1.6 ohm coil.

We’ve chosen the five mods we believe to be the best on the market right now, but there are plenty more where they came from.

We sell a wide range of highly-rated devices from SMOK, Innokin, Aspire, and Geekvape, each providing advanced functionality, bigger clouds, and a bloody great throat hit.

Frequently asked questions about vape mods

What are vape mods?

Vape mods are devices that power the heating element (coil) in a tank to produce vapour from e liquid.

When you activate your mod by inhaling or pressing a button, it sends energy from the battery to the coil. The coil resists the energy and converts it into heat, which vapourises your liquid. The more energy that runs through your coil, the hotter it gets, with the end result being big clouds. This quick and helpful video explains more.

Vape mods are also the largest and most powerful vaping devices on the market. While the increase in size and weight makes a vape mod a bit less pocketable than a small device such as a vape pen or pod system, the extra size also means that a vape mod can offer significantly better battery life while generating much larger vapour clouds.

How do vape mods work?

Because vape mods also have more advanced chipsets and firmware than other types of vaping devices, they can often offer certain features that other types of vaping devices lack. Some of those features may include:

  • Automatic temperature limiting
  • The ability to program your own custom power curve when vaping
  • Downloadable firmware upgrades
  • A full-colour digital display

What are the best vape mod brands?

We’ve covered several of the best brands in our article, but here’s a summary of each, along with some others we didn’t include.

  • Geekvape vape mods are known for their incredible durability. As mentioned above, products such as the Geekvape Aegis series can tolerate being dropped on most surfaces and are resistant to dust and water.
  • Voopoo vape mods are known for their technical mastery. Voopoo’s GENE chipset is widely considered one of the most advanced chipsets on the market for vape mods and was one of the first chipsets that could make a vape coil fire almost instantly with no ramp-up time.
  • Aspire vape mods are praised for their reliable, practical design and common-sense features. When you charge certain Aspire devices, for instance, the screen displays the charging current in milliamps. That simple feature can greatly simplify troubleshooting if you’re having trouble getting your device to charge properly.
  • Innokin vape mods are known for being some of the best vape mods on the market for beginners. If you want bigger clouds and better battery life but don’t want to abandon the mouth-to-lung inhaling style, you’ll probably find Innokin vape mods very compelling.

SMOK vape mods come with some of the most advanced vape tanks on the market. SMOK was the first company to release a vape tank with an octuple-coil atomiser, and they’ve never stopped innovating since then. SMOK’s tanks are consistently some of the most popular on the market.
