Nicotine Free e Liquid

Nicotine-Free E-Liquid

Many e liquids contain nicotine, but some don't. If you have turned to vaping because you wish to quit smoking, you will be choosing flavours that contain nicotine. You may never have considered investing in nicotine-free e liquid.

So, why would any e liquids be nicotine-free and why could they be useful for you?

10ml nicotine-free e liquids

10ml e liquids tend to give you a choice of nicotine strengths and those strengths often include 0mg which means nicotine-free. With a variety of nicotine strengths to explore, you will find the one that relieves your cravings without forcing you to take too many puffs.

The different strengths also enable you to reduce your nicotine strength over time until you no longer require nicotine fixes. But you might still wish to enjoy the flavour and clouds that vaping gives you. Hence the inclusion of 0mg juices in many e liquid collections.

You will find nicotine-free 10ml e liquids in the ranges of many leading brands including Vampire Vape, Double Drip and Hangsen.

Shortfill e liquids

Under the current vaping regulations in the UK, the maximum volume of flavour containing nicotine that can be sold in a single bottle is 10ml. This means that if you wish to invest in more than 10ml of e liquid, which is likely, you will need to purchase multiple bottles of juice.

Manufacturers managed to sidestep the regulations by offering shortfills. These are larger volumes of nicotine-free e liquids that are supplied in underfilled bottles. There's room in the bottles to add nicotine shots.

Most shortfills boast high VG bases suitable for sub ohm set-ups. If you vape sub ohm, they are certainly worth considering as they give more convenient servings of e liquid and can save you money. Many of the leading brands offer shortfill e liquids including 88vape, IVG and The Yorkshire Vaper.

If you haven't used shortfills before, you will find all the information you need to vape them in our shortfill mixing guide.

Are shortfill e liquids right for you?

Shortfills enable you to purchase larger volumes of e liquid and can save you money. But they are not the right choices for every vaper.

Most shortfills feature high VG bases that are not suitable for high resistance devices including beginners' pod kits and vape pens.

E liquid regulations also apply to nicotine shots and so the maximum permitted volume for a nicotine shot is 10ml. In addition, the maximum permitted nicotine strength is 20mg. There's only room to add one nicotine shot to a 50ml shortfill and so the maximum nicotine strength of the completed e liquid will be 3.5mg. As you absorb more nicotine per puff when sub ohm vaping courtesy of the greater amount of vaper produced, you will need a lower nicotine strength than when vaping with a high resistance device. But a strength of 3.5mg might still prove to be too low if you have recently quit smoking.

Will nicotine-free e liquid help you to quit smoking?

Probably not! there are several reasons why smoking is so terribly addictive. However, it is addiction to nicotine that gives you the horrible withdrawal symptoms when you quit.

Vaping will give you the nicotine fixes you need. It is also the case that vaping helps you to quit smoking because it replicates the feel of smoking and gives you something to hold in your hand. But you will need to relieve your nicotine cravings when you first start vaping. You can reduce your dependence on nicotine over time until you are no longer seriously addicted. It is at this point that you can switch to nicotine-free e liquids. Vaping will continue to keep you off the cigs as you will still benefit from the feel of smoking.
